Cookie Cutter Shark– the major species of sharks, is an annoyance to the fishermen and its meat is deadly to humans, but researchers now hoping that the shark flesh can be used to generate a biofuel for Inuits.
Arctic Technology Centre in Sisimiut, Western Greenland researchers are researching
other ways of using the animal’s greasy flesh to construct a biogas out of fishing business waste.
Marianne Willemoes Joergensen of Arctic Technology Centre branch says that:
“I think this is an alternative where we can use the thousands of tonnes of leftovers of products from the sea, including those of the numerous sharks,".
